Quality Education

Quality education is the key to success. All should be able to access quality education from early childhood to late in career retraining. Higher education shouldn’t result in decades of debt.

A record of results

Diane helped pass free all day kindergarten for all children.

Diane’s fought successfully for increases in education funding at all levels

Diane helped pass bills to improve higher ed affordability and the innovative debt refinancing pilot program that is helping thousands reduce their higher ed loan payments.

Diane authored and passed the law for district school board elections that now guarantees that our part of the city will always have a representative on the school board.

But more needs to be done

Minnesota is behind other states in ensuring all get quality early childhood care and education. The science is clear – brain development is critical from birth to age three and experiences then can make later learningmuch easier or more difficult. Preschool programs help kids develop key skills and be ready to learn when they enter school. This is a major priority for the future.

Our K-12 schools need solid, reliable funding that enables them to give great learning opportunities to all kids in all school s.  Class sizes, access to modern computers, arts programming and varied after school activities all contribute to school success.

Higher education must be quality, affordable, and not result in decades of debt.
